CPP Payment Dates (2026)
The Canada Pension Plan pays once a month, close to the end of the month, and the same dates cover the retirement pension and the disability, survivor and children's benefits. For eleven months of 2026 the date is the third-last business day of the month; December is pulled forward to the 22nd. Old Age Security uses the identical schedule.

Count the business days back from the end of each month and the pattern holds from January to November, with September 30, a federal statutory holiday, left out of the count. December breaks it by a week.
The amount changes once a year
The dates move every month; the amount moves only in January. Service Canada raises CPP payments each January in line with the Consumer Price Index, and it never lowers them when prices fall. So the January deposit is the one to check if you're budgeting around a new figure. OAS works differently, adjusting four times a year, which is why someone collecting both sees the two amounts change in different months.
CPP counts as taxable income. Service Canada lets you request a monthly income tax deduction from your payments, or change the one you have, so less is left to settle when you file.
Direct deposit or cheque
Payments are issued on the listed date, though Service Canada notes they can take a few days to arrive. A cheque is mailed during the last three business days of the month and takes longer still, which is why Service Canada recommends direct deposit. Whichever way you're paid, Service Canada's advice is to allow five to ten business days before reporting a payment as missing.
Working out the amount: the CPP calculator shows how contributions are built, and CPP at 60 vs 65 compares starting dates.
Common questions
What day is CPP paid in 2026?
January 28, February 25, March 27, April 28, May 27, June 26, July 29, August 27, September 25, October 28, November 26 and December 22, 2026.
Do CPP and OAS arrive on the same day?
Yes. Service Canada publishes one set of 2026 dates for both, and lists them together in its CPP and OAS printable calendar.
When does the CPP amount go up?
In January. CPP payments are adjusted each January for the change in the Consumer Price Index and do not go down if prices fall.
