Benefit Payment Dates (2026)
Every 2026 payment date for the benefits people actually watch the calendar for — OAS, CPP and GIS near the end of each month, the Canada child benefit around the 20th, plus the GST/HST credit (now the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit) and the Ontario Trillium "Canada PRO" deposit — with a live count to whichever lands next.

OAS, CPP and GIS — 2026 payment dates
These three run on one shared Service Canada schedule, paid near the end of each month. Old Age Security, the Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance and the Allowance for the Survivor are all paid on the OAS dates — GIS has no calendar of its own. The Canada Pension Plan dates are identical for 2026, covering the retirement pension along with disability, children's and survivor benefits. Service Canada publishes both as a single "2026 CPP and OAS printable version".
| Month | Payment date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| January | January 28, 2026 | |
| February | February 25, 2026 | |
| March | March 27, 2026 | |
| April | April 28, 2026 | |
| May | May 27, 2026 | |
| June | June 26, 2026 | |
| July | July 29, 2026 | |
| August | August 27, 2026 | |
| September | September 25, 2026 | |
| October | October 28, 2026 | |
| November | November 26, 2026 | |
| December | December 22, 2026 |
If you collect both OAS and CPP they arrive the same day, usually as two separate deposits rather than one. Wondering how much GIS you'd get? The GIS calculator estimates it from your income and marital status, and the CPP calculator covers contributions.

GST/HST credit — 2026 payment dates
Paid quarterly. The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) replaced the GST/HST credit in July 2026 — same eligibility, calculation and structure per the CRA, just a new name (plus a 25% increase to the amount). That's why the first half of 2026 is listed under the old name:
| Quarter | Payment date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| January (GST/HST credit) | January 5, 2026 | |
| April (GST/HST credit) | April 2, 2026 | |
| July (Groceries & Essentials) | July 3, 2026 | |
| October (Groceries & Essentials) | October 5, 2026 |
Ontario Trillium Benefit (Canada PRO) — 2026 payment dates
Paid monthly, normally around the 10th. It shows up on bank statements as "Canada PRO":
| Month | Payment date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| January | January 9, 2026 | |
| February | February 10, 2026 | |
| March | March 10, 2026 | |
| April | April 10, 2026 | |
| May | May 8, 2026 | |
| June | June 10, 2026 | |
| July | July 10, 2026 | |
| August | August 10, 2026 | |
| September | September 10, 2026 | |
| October | October 9, 2026 | |
| November | November 10, 2026 | |
| December | December 10, 2026 |
Why OAS and CPP land at the end of the month
Service Canada pays pensions in the last few banking days of the month, which is why the dates drift between the 22nd and the 29th rather than sitting on a fixed number. December is the exception you can plan around: it's pulled forward to the 22nd so payments clear before the holidays.
Two practical notes. First, GIS is not a separate cheque — it's combined with your OAS pension into one deposit, so a single amount arriving on an OAS date is usually both. Second, if you get OAS and CPP together, expect two deposits on the same day; banks list them separately, which catches people out when they're checking whether a payment arrived.
The government's own guidance is to allow 5 to 10 business days after the payment date before contacting the program about a missing payment — direct deposit is normally same-day, but a posted cheque takes longer.
When the CCB actually lands
The CRA aims for the 20th of each month. When the 20th falls on a weekend or a federal holiday the payment goes out earlier, never later — which is why June 19, September 18 and December 11 sit off the pattern in 2026. December is always paid well ahead of the holidays. If you're on direct deposit the money is usually in the account that morning; a mailed cheque can take longer — the government asks you to wait five to ten business days past the payment date before contacting the program.
One quirk worth knowing: if your total benefit for the year is less than $240, the CRA doesn't pay monthly at all — you get it as one lump sum with the July payment. So a missing "monthly" cheque isn't always a problem.
The July recalculation — why your amount changes
Every July the CRA recalculates the CCB using the adjusted family net income from the previous year's tax return. Payments from July 2026 through June 2027 are based on your 2025 income. Nothing about your children has to change for the amount to move — a raise in 2025 shows up as a smaller cheque starting July 2026, and a lower-income year works the other way.
This is also why filing matters more than usual: both you and your spouse or common-law partner have to file a return every year, even with no income, or the payments stop until you do. The same July reset applies to the GST/HST credit and the Ontario Trillium Benefit. To see what the new amount should be, run your numbers through the CCB calculator.
GST/HST credit, Trillium and the "Canada PRO" mystery deposit
The GST/HST credit is quarterly rather than monthly, and in 2026 it was renamed. The CRA is explicit about it: the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) replaced the GST/HST credit in July 2026, and under the new name "the eligibility, payment calculation, and structure is the same as it was for the GST/HST credit." That's why the January and April 2026 payments are listed under the old name and July and October under the new one. If you were expecting "GST" on your July statement and saw something else, that's the reason — it's the same quarterly payment stream. One substantive change did come with it: a 25% increase to the benefit amount starting July 2026, which the CRA says stays in place for five years (2026 to 2031).
In Ontario, the Ontario Trillium Benefit bundles three credits — the Ontario energy and property tax credit, the Northern Ontario energy credit and the Ontario sales tax credit — into one monthly payment around the 10th. Many banks display the deposit as "Canada PRO" rather than naming the credit, which is why it so often turns up as a mystery deposit — that label is a bank-side convention, not CRA wording, so don't expect to find it on a government page. Two rules shift the schedule: when the 10th falls on a weekend or statutory holiday the OTB is issued on the last working day before the 10th (which is why January, May and October sit early in 2026), and if your 2026 annual entitlement is $500 or less it's paid as one lump sum in the first payment month instead of monthly. You can also elect on your return to take the whole year in a single payment — in that case, if your entitlement is over $500, it's issued at the end of the benefit year on June 10, 2027.
Common questions
What are the OAS payment dates for 2026?
January 28, February 25, March 27, April 28, May 27, June 26, July 29, August 27, September 25, October 28, November 26 and December 22. The same dates cover GIS, the Allowance and the Allowance for the Survivor.
Are CPP and OAS paid on the same day?
Yes — the 2026 CPP and OAS calendars are identical, and Service Canada publishes them as one document. If you collect both, they land the same day, normally as two separate deposits rather than one combined amount.
When is GIS paid?
GIS has no calendar of its own. It's paid with your OAS pension on the OAS dates above, usually combined into a single deposit — so one amount arriving on an OAS date is often OAS and GIS together.
What are the CCB payment dates for 2026?
January 20, February 20, March 20, April 20, May 20, June 19, July 20, August 20, September 18, October 20, November 20 and December 11. When the 20th is a weekend or holiday the CRA pays earlier, never later.
Why did my CCB change in July?
The CRA recalculates every July from your prior year's tax return — July 2026 to June 2027 payments use your 2025 adjusted family net income. Both spouses must file every year or payments stop.
When is the GST/HST credit paid in 2026?
Quarterly: January 5 and April 2 as the GST/HST credit, then July 3 and October 5 as the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB), which replaced it in July 2026. The CRA says eligibility, calculation and structure are unchanged — same stream, new name, plus a 25% increase to the amount from July 2026 through 2031.
What is a Canada PRO deposit?
It's how many banks display a CRA-paid provincial benefit — in Ontario, the Ontario Trillium Benefit (OEPTC + Northern Ontario energy credit + Ontario sales tax credit), paid on or just before the 10th each month. It's a bank-side label, not official CRA wording.
