Privacy Policy
calc-hq.ca is a set of calculators that run in your browser. We keep this short and specific: what data is involved, who the third parties are, and exactly how to opt out.

What we collect
We don't ask you to create an account, and the site has no forms. The numbers you type into a calculator — your salary, business income, family income, and so on — are processed entirely in your browser to show a result. They are not sent to us, not stored, and not shared. When you leave or refresh the page, they're gone.
Two kinds of data are nonetheless involved in running a website:
- Server logs. Our host, Cloudflare Pages, automatically records standard technical information with each request — your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested — to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. This is ordinary server-log data, not something we use to identify you.
- Advertising cookies. We show ads through Google AdSense, and Google and its partners set cookies in your browser to do that. This is the main way data is collected on this site, so it gets its own section below.
We do not run our own analytics package (no Google Analytics, Plausible, or similar), and we do not sell data. We have no ability to, because we don't collect it.
Advertising — Google AdSense and cookies
This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. To do this:
- Google, as a third-party ad vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick / advertising cookie — enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites across the internet (this is known as ad personalization).
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and may likewise use cookies to do so.
You can control or turn off ad personalization at any time:
- Manage or opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ad Settings: https://adssettings.google.com
- Opt out of a wide range of third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
- Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Opting out of personalization doesn't remove ads — it means the ads you see are no longer based on your browsing. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, which stops most ad cookies from being set in the first place.
Cookie consent
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google's ad technology presents a consent message that lets you agree to or decline personalized advertising before those cookies are used, in line with the GDPR. Your choice is remembered and can be changed at any time through Google Ad Settings. Wherever you are, declining or clearing cookies in your browser is always an available option.
Your rights (GDPR and CalOPPA)
Because we don't collect or hold personal information about you ourselves, there is no account or profile for us to show, change, or delete. Your rights are still worth stating plainly:
- Under the GDPR (EU/EEA/UK users), you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent for advertising cookies. For data handled by Google as part of serving ads, exercise these rights and manage consent through Google Ad Settings and Google's Privacy Policy.
- Under CalOPPA and the CCPA/CPRA (California users), you have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing." We do not sell or share personal information. You can limit ad personalization through the opt-out links above.
- Do Not Track. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry-agreed standard for how sites must respond, so we do not change our behaviour based on it; instead, we give you the direct opt-out controls above, which are more reliable.
If you have a request or question about your data on this site, contact us using the details below and we'll help where we can.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience — people working out pay, tax, and benefits — and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
